This study was to examine the longitudinal effects of Internet use on depression among older men in Korea, and the moderating role of social isolation measured by physical health and employment status. Multiple regression analyses with lagged effects models, based on a sample of Korean older men aged 60 and over collected from the 7th and 8th waves of the Korea Welfare Panel Study (KOWEPS), were conducted. As a result, for the entire sample, Internet use at the 7th wave had positive effects on lowering the depression level of older men at the 8th wave. However, when the sample was divided according to physical health or employment status, the positive effects of Internet use on lowering depression were significant only for older men who were unhealthy or unemployed. This study implies that Internet use may be important to the mental health of older men, especially those who are likely to be socially isolated, such as those who are unhealthy or unemployed.
